Originally from Japan, Mitsuba Gakki Co. now has a Hawaiʻi branch. Located in Honolulu, their instruments are assembled by Yusuke Osawa, vice president of Mitsuba Gakki.

Mitsuba has 2 lines of Hawaiian made ʻukulele: GCEA and Mailelei, while Zephyr and Domo are still made in Japan.

Mahogany and koa laminates are used to produce their GCEA and Mailelei ʻukulele. Both are popular due to affordability and sound quality. They are available in soprano, soprano longneck, concert, and tenor sizes. The Koa laminate ʻukulele produce a bright tone with a lot of volume.
The Mahogany GCEA soprano is a popular choice for beginners and can be made into a beginner set (includes a gig bag, tuner, and beginner book w/instructional DVD) for just $229.32.
